ABOUT TWR

PLUS...MEET MARK & STAFF

HOW IT STARTED! Back in 2014, Mark and some friends thought it would be fun to start an online video website where people around the world could go online and learn beginner to advanced level technique directly from him. So we hired a videographer, began developing a website, and started filming a few videos. The Muñoz Wrestling Academy was officially born!

In 2015, several life events happened and we held off on filming for awhile. When we picked it back up a couple of years later, we thought a name that could eventually bring on additional clinicians other than just Mark would be more beneficial. After much deliberation we finally landed on the The Wrestling Room.

We officially launched the TWR video library in the summer of 2018, and new this year, we are adding in live interactive classes and on demand courses to the mix! Whether you are looking to learn straight wrestling, wrestling for MMA, or wrestling for jiu-jitsu, we hope to see you on the mat with us soon!

WHY TWR?

THE NEXT STEP IN WRESTLING TRAINING

With the hopes of sharing his knowledge with others, Mark worked closely with a team of trusted coaches and other experienced wrestlers to design a series of instructional videos that can benefit any student of the sport, beginner or advanced. Since they're available online, you can access them through your computer or mobile device no matter where you are, which means your training doesn't ever have to stop.

There are a lot of experienced wrestling coaches out there, many with high levels of success in the sport. What makes Mark different? Well...if you are looking to learn folkstyle or freestyle, Mark was a 2x All-American, an NCAA Champion, and Junior World Silver Medalist. He has competed at the highest level!

Or, if you are looking to learn Wrestling for MMA or Wrestling for Jiu-Jitsu, he can teach you that too! Mark competed in the UFC for 8+ years with a record of 14-6 and was a multiple time title contender ranked as high as 3rd in the world! Along the way, Mark earned his purple belt from Antonio Nogueira and can often be found training with some of the best jiu-jitsu practitioners in the world. This is what helps make Mark unique in that there are few coaches that can offer a high level of wrestling covering the three disciplines.

Are you ready to take the next step in your wrestling training? Learn with Mark and team inside The Wrestling Room!

MEET MARK

Wrestling has been synonymous with Mark's life since he was 13 years old, and after becoming an NCAA Division I Wrestling Champion his senior year at Oklahoma State University, Mark began his coaching journey. He would spend several years at the D1 level before eventually moving into MMA, where he was ranked as high as 3rd in the world. He laid down his gloves in 2015 after winning his final match in the octagon @ the very first UFC event held in the Philippines. Now, his time is dedicated to coaching and the The Wrestling Room, which he started in order to spread knowledge, inspiration, and championship caliber techniques to any wrestler in the world.

MEET TREY

They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Mark's son Trey was destined for the sport of wrestling. He attended his first wrestling practice when he was 8 years old, competed in his first tournament at 9, and when he was 13 decided to step away from soccer and baseball to focus on wrestling full time. In High School, Trey became a 2x Fargo All-American, 2x CA State finalist, 2019 CA State Champion, an NHSCA High School National Champion, and capped off his senior season at 60-0 with only 2 takedowns scored against him.

Trey currently competes for the Oregon State Beavers where he is a 2x PAC 12 Champion, 2x Academic All-American, and recently secured the All-American title at the 2023 NCAA Championships in Tulsa, OK!

"Mark is an exceptional student of the sport. From the moment he stepped foot in the Oklahoma State Wrestling room he began learning to become a champion. Now he is sharing that knowledge with others."

John Smith (Oklahoma State Head Coach)

"There are great men and great technicians in the sport of wrestling. Mark Munoz is a rare breed of both. Mark can teach you to become the best wrestler in the world, but more importantly, he is a fantastic role model who realizes there is something greater in life than just winning."

Brandon Slay (Olympic Gold Medalist)

"It's very rare that a person can be kind and compassionate off the mat, and an intense relentless force on the mat. Coach Munoz is both. One of the nicest people in the business with a rare ability to motivate, communicate, and lead."

Chael Sonnen (UFC Veteran)
